Location: Sherbrooke, Quebec. Remote work may be considered for qualified candidates in Quebec who are able to commute to the office periodically.
Eligibility: Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Canadian university program or have recently completed their Ph.D.

Your Role
Irreversible is seeking a Machine Learning Intern with interest in computer science, software engineering or electrical engineering to join our team of scientists and engineers and assist in developing benchmarking approaches for low-power neural processing units (NPUs). This role is ideal for a student eager to gain hands-on experience in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) hardware, NPUs, and machine learning, and support innovation in energy-efficient AI hardware.
What You'll Do
Collaborate with team members from diverse backgrounds in physics, computer science, mathematics, and engineering to help develop a new generation of low-power AI processors
Design and apply benchmarking techniques to characterize state-of-the-art commercial NPUs and evaluate their performance (energy, latency, error rate, etc.)
Assist in developing and optimizing deep neural network architectures and measure their performance
Learn and apply standard supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods
Participate in preparing reports, drafting patents, and authoring publications
Attend and contribute to team meetings and technical discussions
What You'll Bring
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD program, or having recently graduated from a PhD program, in Computer science, Software engineering, Electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline
Understanding of machine learning concepts and techniques, specifically deep neural networks
Experience using Python and familiarity with machine learning libraries (e.g., PyTorch, Numpy, Pandas)
Experience implementing CNN-based models
Familiarity with scientific computing and data analysis tools
Interest in low-power, energy-efficient computing hardware and its applications in machine learning
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Verbal and written communication skills
Eagerness to learn, collaborate, and contribute to a dynamic research environment
